Antique Queen Anne Walnut Highboy circa 1765
Antique Queen Anne Walnut Highboy circa 1765 made in the United States (18th century American furniture for sale).
This is a first rate New England highboy with a fan set in skirt and elegant proportions made in 1765.
The legs are original and seem to be birch. New England frugality-sides are also birch.
Dimensions: 40" wide x 19" deep x 70" tall.
A highboy, also called a tallboy, a high or double chest of drawers (known technically as a chest-on-stand and a chest-on-chest, respectively).
The name highboy is derived from a corruption of the French "bois" (or “wood”) and became common in English in the late 1600s.
Shrinkage splits to sides as is common with this style of furniture, hardware seems to be original but if this point is vital let me show you. Acorn drops are lacking.
