Morehouse studied with Irving Wiles, Frederick Bridgman, and Robert Henri, and had an art studio in Garden City, New York.

She taught art classes and is known for her painting portrait artwork of the Grand Dames of the Gold Coast of Long Island during the 1930s to 1960s.

Edith Morehouse died in 1979.
